this past week – its a long one.

i don’t know what it is, but i always seem to blog on friday evenings. hmm. just an observation.

well i have been planning to blog literally all week. everyday i was like, hmmm i’ll blog today, but then didn’t. i always seem to blog on friday evenings. i don’t know what it is but that always seems to be my blogging day.

moving on. today i had lunch and spent the afternoon with this beauty. i had such a lovely time (and also a delicious grilled veggie sandwich but that’s beside the point). this is my oldest friend, we’ve been friends since grade one and it always feels comfortable, easy when we get together. we started by going for lunch and coffee. we both had chai lattes and then finished with irish cream iced coffees. we then browsed around town a bit with our iced coffees enjoying the sun. ps it has been so so nice here this past week. i think summer may just be here to stay for a while.

i scored some yummy thrifted yarn today as well as some good vintage fabrics (in yummy fall plaids) i have a few projects in mind for these things – more about this later. i was shopping specifically for nice fall-ish colours. i only got one teeny bit of yellow yarn and i would have liked some nicer, deeper, more mustardy yellows but hey, beggars can’t be choosers right? i did however get a ton of balls of grey yarn. i don’t know why but just kept picking them up, it is so pretty – grey yarn is definitely my favorite colour of yarn.

also this past week i secured my spot here: i am so so excited and it is the reason for my fall yarn shopping and my fall fabric shopping. if you read this blog at all you know how much i loved the last class that rachel and elsie did and the projects look so amazing this time around i couldn’t miss out on this one. also, it is the fall class and again, if you read this blog you know how much i love fall. aanyways, the combo of those things plus the amazing experience i had last time made it very easy for me to dish out the money to pay for this class. also, if you know the font in that banner would you link me up? i love it.

this past week i also started uploading to the SIStv gallery again. i started my account back in the spring but never uploaded anything to the gallery. i started uploading again this week and i was very warmly welcomed. so if you are visiting from SIS welcome! and please come back any time.

also regarding sis my sweet friend jen got some lovely news this week. big congrats to her.

this week i applied for my student loan and this morning i payed my tuition. it went through this evening and i am now nearly $6000 poorer than i was when i woke up this morning.

this week i was watching jimmy fallon and saw this:

so amazing. i’ve listened to it too many times to count.

also on the youtube subject there is a new where the wild things are trailer. watch it here. it is even better than the first one. i am so excited for this movie to come out later this year. so so excited.

i have a new favorite blog – terrible, yellow eyes. it is a bunch of artists who are making projects in their medium of choice inspired by where the wild things are. it is absolutely amazing. some of my faves:

so magical. i especially love that last one. definitely following that blog now. i will be checking it every day, you can count on that. after all the where the wild things are inspiration today i went looking for my copy of the book, however i can’t find it anywhere so i have had someone read it to me here on youtube like 10 times today. ha! i’m a bit obsessed.

tonight, i will be rolling more yarn into balls (because its so much prettier than the rolls they come in) and i hope to do some scrapping. gooood night.

IDSS Page 1 + A Sneak Peek

So today was Canada day here in Canada (more about that tomorrow i think) and the weather was not so pleasant so i spent the morning picking my courses for the fall (my summer is more than halfway over already – just by the way, wtf?) and I spent the latter half of the day scrapbooking and art journaling. It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon since I couldn’t be outside laying by the pool. What does one’s studio look like after a day of crafting you ask? Well here you go:Disastrous. It looks a little better than that now though – so that’s a bonus. (I realize not everyone’s studio looks like this after a day of crafting but lets be honest shall we? it should) (I also realize i used the term studio to describe my scrap table that sits in the corner of my bedroom – i’m ok with it, you should be to). So what on Earth did I make to make such a mess you ask yourself? Well then you are in luck because here are a few of the things I cranked out of the factory today.I finally got started on Rachel’s summer art journaling class – I Do Solemnly Swear. This is the title page on which I misspelled solemnly. meh. I left it. It was really fun to just play around for myself. I haven’t been doing a lot of scrapping lately, but what I have been doing hasn’t just been for myself – they’ve all been projects for other things with deadlines etc. Mind you, its not that these aren’t fun to complete – its just different than when you’re doing something completely for yourself you know? Anyways I had a super fun time making this page.I also did the second page from the class, but not before good light ran out to take a picture of it. Expect it sometime tomorrow assuming my internet decides to work. We are on a satellite high speed connection here at home and its good when it works – but it seems to be working less and less these days. Suuuper frustrating. What the mother of crap did people do before the internet? because I could not survive without it.

I also got to put some finishing touches on my first project for Such Sweet Tierney this month as well as a few other projects I can’t share right away. London sent me an amazing little packet of buttons this month and I have been playing around with them in the little free time I have. I have put together a couple things and this is my favourite so far – so fun to make. All this plus I got to enjoy some Canada day festivities including fireworks. I’ll probably blog more about that tomorrow too. But for now I am off to bed for the night.

My Oh My. . .

Where does the time go? I honestly cannot believe that it is already the end of November. Seriously, it seems like I just started this school year last week and I'm already almost done first semester. Exams start in a week in a half and I am having the hardest time figuring out where the time has gone. Anyways, moving on.

I am seriously loving Elsie's class. I have been so inspired by the projects and the creative energy of all of the other people in the class. You should really take a look at the Flickr group where everyone is posting their work. So so inspiring. What are you waiting for? Check it out. In regards to the flying time I haven't had a lot of opportunities to have a really good craft session and tackle some of these projects, but I did have time to rediscover my love of Perler beads. Seriously these are so much fun to play with and I haven't for a really, really long time. It was so fun to sit down one night and play around with them. This is the little cutie that I came up with that night.
Seriously, how fun is that? I think I over ironed it but meh, I love love love it. I got some supplies to make some of the other projects from the class so far so I'm hoping to find some time to tackle them this week.
Also, I was searching around flickr and found this layout by Katie (whose Flickr page is actually now here) and i was so inspired by it I created my whole How To post over at The Everyday Scrapper about it. Go over and check it out. This is the layout I made for the post.

Even after a week, it is still up on my bulletin board. I don't feel like its finished, it feels like there is something missing, but i'm not sure what. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
This is what I have been up to but I am now going to head off to bed. I have class tomorrow and then I am going out for lunch with some friends from my class.

Lovelies.

Hi.

So it has been a while but I don't really feel like I have a ton of things to say. School is busy, but good busy. As if I would opt to take an extra class when I already have a full course load, but who could pass this opportunity up? Not me. 5 projects a week for 6 weeks put on by this sweet girl? I had to be a part of it.

I have literally been entranced by her work ever since I first saw her layout in the fresh face section of CK back in October 2005. Everything she does is super inspired and in turn is even more inspiring. I love Elsie the scrapbooker, Elsie the photographer, Elsie the designer, and most recently Elsie the painter. Here is a little ode to this huge influence behind my personal creative journey.

You can see all of these and more on her Flickr page, it is always good for some inspirational eye candy.

The first week of her class was so amazing, I haven't gotten down to making anything from it yet but I can't wait to get started on some of the projects. I can only imagine that it gets better from here on in, which is hard to imagine since the first week was great. This girl's ideas are no short of genious, and she is truly gifted.

I am off to bed. Class tomorrow at 10 with a long day ending at 5.

Well Hello There.

So you may or may not have noticed that i've been MIA for . . .well a really long time. And I've said it before and I'll say it again "I'm a bad blogger". I like doing it, it just gets pushed to the bottom of my list of things to do.

I've accepted it and so should you ; )

That being said, I'm going to try my hardest to get back into it. But with school starting next week we'll see how that goes. I really do want to be a good blogger so i'm going to try to make an extra special effort to put it into my everyday. Or into at least my every other day.

So I've signed up for the lovely Rachel's art journal class Steady Hand Faulty Heart and also I've reserved my place in her second class. I haven't gotten to creating any pages yet, but my head is just swimming with ideas for some pages to create. The Flickr Group for the class is super inspiring and you should definitely check it out.

As soon as I get to creating I'll be posting some stuff up there so definitely check it out then. I'll probably put some stuff up on here too.

I'm very excited to get to work on some of those pages, but I'm in the process of moving back to London for school. I'm excited to get back but I really hate moving. It is definitely one of my least favorite things to do. However I'm getting into the apartment a few days before school actually starts so hopefully I'll have some time to get settled.

Alright I'm gonna get back to packing which really hasn't even started because I'm organizing. Most importantly my scrap table which is a mess, but really, I love it that way. It seems used, and it helps me to create if all of my stuff is out for me to see all the time.
