he’s scrappy.

So here are a few layouts to prove that I actually do still scrapbook. 100_2751100_2756100_2763 100_2761 The first layout is lifted from an Ali layout in the October CK and it sat on my desk for months I wasn’t sure if it needed something else before it was ‘finished’  but I decided I liked it just the way it was.

The second one is for a Challenge Jen has over at SIS this week. It is a few tweets to document my week . This layout was seriously fun to put together and I love the way it turned out. Love it.

So there, I do still scrap once in a while. ha.

I wrote exam 3/4 today so I am taking the night off to do all things crafty. I have a few projects that I want to finish up and a few new ones I want to get started – some even include some more layouts. I have a pile of Nylons that I need to get caught up on and I am also going to get started on my Style School homework. Let the crafts begin the books can wait until tomorrow.  ha.

What are you up to tonight/this weekend?

ps. i love you

I *love* Leslie Hall, she seriously cracks me up and I am jealous to the max that Jen got to meet her a while ago at a craft show. image

merry, merry christmas [volume 2]

merrychristmas2

Here is a second instalment of some lovely Christmas music.  This one may be lovelier than the last one, just saying. But you can check out volume one here and decide for yourself.

My Christmas dinner on Saturday went wonderfully. It was a ton of crazy hard work just to put together a meal so I give my parents huuge credit for doing it for a crowd of 15 + on Boxing day. No one however, thought to bring there camera, so there is no evidence that the night ever happened except for the insane amount of leftovers in my fridge.

I have two more exams that I have to get through one on Friday and one on Tuesday, but I am having the hardest time studying. I want nothing more than to stay up all night, sleep all day, make nice things, drink hot chocolate and wrap presents. However, studying it is. Oh well.

How is your Christmas prep coming??

To Do.

Tomorrow evening I am hosting a little Christmas dinner for a few friends before we write our exam (its online and open book, so really, it can hardly be called an exam). Anyways, we are having a Christmas gathering and dinner before and probably during and after our exam. It is mostly a potluck style dinner, but I am covering most of the main dishes so this paired with the fact that I am hosting means I have a busy day ahead of me that will probably consist of many calls to my parents with questions (this is my first Christmas dinner prep ever!).

Here are some of the things I have to do tomorrow:

  • go to the grocery store to pick up some final groceries for the big event
  • clean this place up (kitchen, bathrooms, dust, vacuum – you know, all the fun stuff )
  • prep stuffing and turkey
  • stuff turkey
  • get turkey in the oven around 1, by 1:30 at the latest
  • put the apple cider on in the slow cooker to brew for most of the day
  • put together an awesome Christmas playlist
  • find my Ella Fitzgerald Christmas CD because I have NO idea where it is
  • read an 18 page article for the ‘exam’
  • finish up food prep ie. cook and mash potatoes, make gravy, carve turkey
  • make sure we have enough dinnerware :S (maybe should’ve checked that one out earlier than tomorrow, meh)
  • don’t ruin/dry out/burn the turkey
  • find some time to shower/get dressed

Plus probably a bunch more stuff that I can’t think of right now.  Aaanyways, despite my seemingly hectic day I am very excited about it. I *love* hosting things and planning and prepping for events – its one of my fave things to do.  ever.

Also today I got most of my Christmas shopping done, except for a few things that I am having difficulties ordering because I live in Canada (grr), but it will hopefully get worked out thanks to some lovelies of mine who live in the states and have offered to ship it to me.  I got my sister the cutest shirt ever so maybe I’ll try to find some time to take a picture of that tomorrow to share.

Ok, I am going to head to bed on account of my busy day tomorrow aka no Hills for me tonight. ha.

What are you doing to get into the Christmas spirit? Attending or hosting any big (or little) Christmas parties?

Seriously? How gorgeous is she? I went and saw Brothers tonight – and it was sooo amazing. One of the best I’ve seen in a while.  It was very intense in some parts but truly amazing. I highly recommend it and will be buying it when it comes to DVD – for sure.

It doesn’t hurt that this lovely was in it and I was reminded why I had a little crush on her in Garden State – delightful. xo

its a good thing.

Its a good thing that I don’t really get embarrassed because otherwise I might not ever leave my house, I just always seem to find myself in situations that could (should) probably embarrass me. Take yesterday for instance, I was walking on campus in between classes and was sooo excited because while I was in class it had started snowing (eeee!).

So this was about 10:30 in the morning and I was having a good self-esteem day, I showered in the morning, and didn’t just throw on the first thing I found.  I am walking from one side of campus where my class was, to the other side of campus where I had some work to do when I approach possibly one of the busiest intersections on campus. A car just went through the stop sign the other one was pulling up to the stop sign so there was time for me to go. I look around to make sure nothing was coming through, casually notice the throngs of people walking around in between classes and step onto the crosswalk.

To my surprise I find myself slipping. My arms go out to try to balance myself and my feet are slipping trying to find a grip on the ground to steady myself. Finally I find what I think is a gripping point on the ground only to put my other foot down and slip again. By this point I am so off balance that there is no hope for me. I try to save myself, but to no avail and before I know it my feet are straight out in front of me, my arms are still in the air from trying to balance myself and I am falling towards the ground. The rest is a bit of a blur, but I remember on the ground thinking how I hate when people fall and then immediately look around to see who saw so when I got up I did not look around. I just held my head high, and carried on my merry way.  I bet I looked something like the guy with the umbrella at the end of this video, but with much more struggling to regain my balance.

This would happen to me because one of my greatest joys in winter is watching people slip on ice. I never wish anyone to get hurt, and I hope they don’t get embarrassed but I just love when people slip, it kills me. So I’m glad I could be that source of  joy and laughter to the masses in between class at UWO yesterday. ha.

Anyways, that is my story, I could have been embarrassed but I wasn’t. Instead I just laughed to myself at the irony that I would find myself on the cold ground. When I told my friend Siobhan she laughed and said she wished my books went flying everywhere. Yeah, I have kind friends. lol

I hope you are all getting into the Christmas spirit or the finals spirit if you are a student lol. I am definitely getting into the Christmas spirit, but having a bit more difficulty with the finals spirit. lol

If you havent, you should check out my Holiday playlist here.

ps. i love youimage Guilty pleasure alert. I have been watching the Hills on demand lately, starting from season1. True to MTV fashion, it has just the right amount of trash to get me through my day, while still being endearing. I am invested in the lives of these girls and I find myself wanting to know what is going to happen next with LC, Whit, Audrina and Heidi. Oh yes, quality television viewing. lol

Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time, at the beginning of the 1990s, there lived a young boy. During his kindergarten year, that young boy decided that since his father had a rat tail, it would be a good hair style to have for himself. So, sitting in the family kitchen, his father cut his hair into the infamous rat tail pictured below.

Our young hero loved that rat tail, and regardless of how unfashionable it was then or now, wore it with pride. It grew long and flowing down his back and was even brave enough to pair it with a vibrant, neon blue and black speedo at the public pool (who is dressing this kid?!) He spent many hours with that rat tail getting his mom to braid it for him, just like she did with his father's. One day in grade one, just one short year after the birth of the rat tail, a mean young boy in our hero's class tried to tie his rat tail into a knot! As much as the boy loved that rat tail, he could not bear the thought of it being tied in a knot, so that very night he had his mother cut it off. His mother tied it with a ribbon, put it in a plastic sandwich baggy, and placed it in decorative dish where it remains to this day.

Fast forward some 15, 16 years to present day. That young boy has grown up, has a much more stylish hairdo and is in fact, me. Ha! Every detail in the above story is true by the way, no exaggeration at all. Recently in an RVA slumber party chat, we were sharing embarrassing stories and Elsie asked me to make a layout devoted to my rattail so, here it is.

First of all, I haven't scrapped in so long so it was major fun just to cut and play around with paper again. Second of all this layout is one of my faves in a long time. Woodgrain? Paint? Yellow? What's not to love? ha!

I wanted to include the actual rat tail itself on the layout because, how could I not? But my mom wouldn't part with it yet. So, instead I left a space to put it for when she is ready to part with my hair. Hope you like it :)

Anyways, I was planning on blogging everyday this week, but my computer decided yesterday morning that it wouldn't start, so that will not be happening. I did however speak to someone about it and they assure me it can be fixed and my files will be safe (good because I suck at backing up regularly). I will still be able to tweet from my phone and check email and facebook. I probably won't be blogging as long as my computer is down, except for when my lovely roomate is kind enough to let me borrow her computer when she's not using it. Like now . . .shout out!! :)

I am off to finish reading for class tomorrow, watch AFV (its our Sunday night ritual) and just generally relax the night away. I have some knitting I want to do, plus yesterday I thought of a cutie little embroidery project I want to make - so we'll see what I fill my time with. As much as I love having my computer, not having it is so much more conducive to doing homework and crafting. Maybe my time away from it will be a nice vacation who knows?

Happy Sunday. xo

ps. I apologize for the crappy blog formatting on this post. I'm writing it right in blogger (which I haaaaaaaate but since this isn't my computer and I'm being allowed to blog on it, I'll deal)

my heart is beating fast.

Every once in a while things just fall into place so perfectly that there is no other way to explain it except that there is someone bigger out there – someone who has your path all planned out for you. (for the record I am so thankful for that person and the things he is doing right now.)OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA This past February I made this layout and this past week I was offered a spot on a team that is going to India next summer. I of course, accepted!!

Ever since I first saw pictures of it I have been in love with the country and longed to see it for myself. I am beyond thrilled that this time next year I will have been to India. The team is going for at least three weeks, with the possibility of staying for up to 8 weeks depending on funds etc. While we are there we will be working with a variety of organizations doing health care and increasing awareness about global health as well as some sight seeing (eeee!).

I am still kind of shocked about the whole thing and am so so thankful for this opportunity. The next year is going to be tough. Busy planning our trip as well as trying to raise funds for the trip as well as figuring out how I am going to make ends meet during my last year of school (since I will have at least one, and potentially two months next summer when I am not working). Despite the work that it will be in planning the trip and the following year – the risks far, far outweigh the other factors.

I will keep you regularly updated. On the 13 of November I will find out more about the trip at our first official planning/information session. I want to thank all of you who sent up little prayers when I asked for them over the past couple of weeks – I truly believe in the power of a prayer or a positive thought and therefore of the fact that all of you had an instrumental part in my being a part of this trip. So thank you for that.

xoxo, your very excited friend,

jeremy.

oh. new followers! There has recently been an increase in the number of you and I am flattered. I want to personally welcome you to my little blog and thank you, thank you, thank you for sticking around. You literally mean so much to me.
