Uncut Christmas Vlog.

I always say I should Vlog about something but I never have anything good to Vlog about and I always feel like my videos are suuuper awkward after I shoot them. Anyways so when Kim asked me to be a part of a little Christmas project she was putting together, it was just the kick in the ass I needed to actually put together a little Vlog.

You can see Kim’s blog with all of the lovely ladies who took part here. Or right on my blog in my post from yesterday (GO!) Like I said yesterday, it is totally worth your ten minutes to watch that video. It is funny and heart-warming and just a lovely little video.

Anyways, I sent Kim over 5 minutes of me awkwardly rambling on about many a Christmassy things. Here, is that full video.

Once again, big thanks to the lovely people at YouTube for picking the most amazing screencap of me as the start image. And yes I know you can change them, this is the best of the three options I was given.

If you make it through the whole awkward thing congrats because I definitely can’t. I dunno, there is just something about watching myself on video – so strange. Also I had to cut out a ton of me laughing after the carollers comment. It was such a ridiculous thing for me to say and I cracked myself up.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy it. I always love seeing other bloggers do Vlogs, its a fun little look into what they’re like in person.

HP Mania or Dumbledore Level Magic

Everyday of the year I am a pretty big Harry Potter fan. I mean I don’t go around broadcasting it to the world but I have all of the books (except for the Goblet of Fire – which I lent to someone who never returned it) and all of the movies (except for the Prisoner of Azkaban – which I lent to someone who never returned it) (sidenote: I think there’s a lesson about lending my things to people somewhere in here…). But I have all the books and movies and frequently watch the movies throughout the year. I am a fan. But, at the time when a new Harry Potter movie is about to come out, I become a crazy fan. This year in particular, since I was lied to so many times about the release date of the movie. I couldn’t go and see the movie at midnight on opening night (as much as I would have loved to) due to a scheduling conflict (thanks school!) and then I just didn’t get to go and see it until this past Wednesday.

Anyways I remembered on Monday I had the Deathly Hallows at my apartment and decided to realign my priorities (I have two papers due the beginning of next week) for the evening and read as much of it as I could before the movie on Wednesday. This is how I spent much of my night on Monday… IMG_1011Reading by the light of the Christmas tree? Magic. Reading Harry Potter by the light of the Christmas tree? Dumbledore level magic! (that’s a LOT of magic for those of you who aren’t in the know. So I got pretty far in the book on Monday night but Tuesday after school I decided I wanted to get farther. So I did a bit of homework then went back to reading. While I was reading I remembered I had a few sheets of iron on paper somewhere in my crafty stash and decided to make myself a Harry Potter tee (I didn’t have one yet and a HP tee is just what every crazy fan needs). I was trying to think of the perfect tee to make, there are lots of funny/creative ones on etsy/the internets, but I decided to just go with Harry, Herione and Ron circa The Chamber of Secrets. 230038[1]Making a tee shirt takes longer than I remembered (printing and waiting and ironing and waiting some more) so in between reading and tee shirt making I drew myself a fun little Harry Potter tattoo, that may or may not still be on my body 4 days later…photo(2) Please excuse the ridiculous crazy fan face I am making and appreciate the awesomeness of my drawing fake tattoo skills. ha!

Anyways, so with all of my prep done I went to the movie on Wednesday and was veeery impressed. I don’t pick favourites but I’m still leaning towards the Half Blood Prince as my favourite (it was my favourite book too) or maybe the Chamber of Secrets, but this one was really good. Of all of the movies, it was the most similar to the book, which I really appreciate. I just wish they would’ve put the whole book into one movie instead of this part one part two business. I definitely could have sat in the theatre for a couple more hours.

So there it is, my super Harry Potter nerd-ness on display for all of you to see. And now I have to get back to these papers I have been neglecting for Harry, Hermione and Ron.

What are you up to this weekend?

Jeremy

(I’m still laughing at my Dumbledore level magic comment up there – Gosh I’m witty)

(and modest…obviously)

PS. I love youimage This Harry Potter Snuggie!!! (on the lovely Ashley) How amazing is it?

I must have one. To, this is a matter of the most serious nature, of life and death almost. If you have one, if you know where you can get one, if you know where I can get one, if you have any information at all about these amazing things please, please please let me know.

Please.

Happy shortly belated birthday to one of my favourite filmmakers ever, Wes Anderson.

This is my favorite:image And I have yet to see this:image

If you haven’t, you must check out one of Wes Anderson’s films. They are funny, extremely visually stimulating (aka pretty) and simply put they are genius.

Happy Birthday Mr. Anderson.

Pretty Portraits on a Quiet Monday

Saturday Night Live has been quite a large part of my weekends for the past few years. Whenever I don’t have something going on on a Saturday night, I will watch SNL and craft. I really love it.

Anyways I was always really drawn to the vivid, highly stylized portraits of the host and the band for each particular night, that are shown just before commercials – so a while back I did some research and found out that the photographer behind those photos is a woman named Mary Ellen Matthews.

She is definitely one of my favourite photographers. I love that you can spot one of her photos and immediately know that she took it. I find that so admirable that artists have such a unique style that there is no mistaking their work – it is a characteristic common between many of my favourite artists.  I wanted to share some of her rad photos with you.

finally

image

Finally, after months of saying that I wanted to see it, I have finally seen (500) Days of Summer.  I even own it now, so I can watch it whenever I want. ha. It was good. It was all I expected it to be and it was so pretty. I love the way it was shot, and the whole concept behind it.  And it has Zooey so, obviously i’m all over that. ha. Every time I see her in something I become more convinced that she’s the love of my life. Seriously she is super cute aaand she can sing to me any day of the week.  I realize I have done this exact same thing before (sing my praises for Zooey and then post a number of pictures of her, but hey, its my blog I’ll do what I want. ha)

I’m going to spend some time over the next couple of weeks fixing this place up. New year, new things in store for the blog. I’m definitely going to have a new banner, and I’m going to see about getting nice little tabs on the side etc etc. You know, spruce it up a little in here. ha.

What are you up to? Also, how was your Christmas?

xo Jer

Ps. I love you

this past week – its a long one.

i don’t know what it is, but i always seem to blog on friday evenings. hmm. just an observation.

well i have been planning to blog literally all week. everyday i was like, hmmm i’ll blog today, but then didn’t. i always seem to blog on friday evenings. i don’t know what it is but that always seems to be my blogging day.

moving on. today i had lunch and spent the afternoon with this beauty.n509929199_449274_22 i had such a lovely time (and also a delicious grilled veggie sandwich but that’s beside the point). this is my oldest friend, we’ve been friends since grade one and it always feels comfortable, easy when we get together. we started by going for lunch and coffee. we both had chai lattes and then finished with irish cream iced coffees. we then browsed around town a bit with our iced coffees enjoying the sun. ps it has been so so nice here this past week. i think summer may just be here to stay for a while.

i scored some yummy thrifted yarn today as well as some good vintage fabrics (in yummy fall plaids) i have a few projects in mind for these things – more about this later.P8145878edit i was shopping specifically for nice fall-ish colours. i only got one teeny bit of yellow yarn and i would have liked some nicer, deeper, more mustardy yellows but hey, beggars can’t be choosers right? i did however get a ton of balls of grey yarn. i don’t know why but just kept picking them up, it is so pretty – grey yarn is definitely my favorite colour of yarn.

also this past week i secured my spot here:Untitled-1 i am so so excited and it is the reason for my fall yarn shopping and my fall fabric shopping. if you read this blog at all you know how much i loved the last class that rachel and elsie did and the projects look so amazing this time around i couldn’t miss out on this one. also, it is the fall class and again, if you read this blog you know how much i love fall. aanyways, the combo of those things plus the amazing experience i had last time made it very easy for me to dish out the money to pay for this class. also, if you know the font in that banner would you link me up? i love it.

this past week i also started uploading to the SIStv gallery again. i started my account back in the spring but never uploaded anything to the gallery. i started uploading again this week and i was very warmly welcomed. so if you are visiting from SIS welcome! and please come back any time.

also regarding sis my sweet friend jen got some lovely news this week. big congrats to her.

this week i applied for my student loan and this morning i payed my tuition. it went through this evening and i am now nearly $6000 poorer than i was when i woke up this morning.

this week i was watching jimmy fallon and saw this:

so amazing. i’ve listened to it too many times to count.

also on the youtube subject there is a new where the wild things are trailer. watch it here. it is even better than the first one. i am so excited for this movie to come out later this year. so so excited.

i have a new favorite blog – terrible, yellow eyes. it is a bunch of artists who are making projects in their medium of choice inspired by where the wild things are. it is absolutely amazing. some of my faves:peter

erin

ana so magical. i especially love that last one. definitely following that blog now. i will be checking it every day, you can count on that. after all the where the wild things are inspiration today i went looking for my copy of the book, however i can’t find it anywhere so i have had someone read it to me here on youtube like 10 times today. ha! i’m a bit obsessed.

tonight, i will be rolling more yarn into balls (because its so much prettier than the rolls they come in) and i hope to do some scrapping. gooood night.

lovelies.

I am back from the cottage. Actually I got back on Tuesday night, late Tuesday night but I worked Wednesday night and tonight. So I’ve been busy and tired out from my little vacation. Sidenote: isn’t it weird how after a vacation you feel so blah when you get back into your normal day-to-day, almost tired out. I’m still working on getting back into routine and I was only gone for two days. It was a good two days though. I loove it up at the cottage so so much. It is so relaxing. Anyways me and my brother had to come back early because we both had to work and the rest of my family is still there until tomorrow – so they still have the camera. Therefore no pics for now except for these ones from my cell on the trip home.

0721092045 0721092041 0721092046

Actually, looking at these on the computer, I’m kind of in love with the last one. One of my favorite things ever? happy accidents like that last picture. love it.

On the way back we listened to a little of everything and a lot of this.

it makes my heart happy.

I am so so excited to see this movie – so excited in fact that I hope I’m not psyching myself up so much that I am disappointed when I actually do see it. I can’t bear the thought.

Speaking of which, how lovely?

293_deschanel_selfmag2_071409

Aaaaah. I could do a whole post about that lovely. Definite crush (its all about the indie cred).

Anyways, I am off for the night. I am catching up on the things in the online world and watching old Harry Potter’s to get my mind off of the fact that I haven’t yet seen the new one. ps. The quidditch scenes in the first couple of movies were awful – i still love them.

What are you up to tonight?

ilu.

Weekend Recap

Hello Hello Hello.

First of all, where the mother of crap is July going? Is it seriously the tomorrow? I’m going to be back at school before I know it. gaaah. Aaaanyways. . .

So this weekend was a bit of a whirlwind. A good whirlwind though.

It started with a bit of retail therapy on Friday. I got a new pair of jeans, (which i never do, i’m picky picky) two shirts for $10 and a bunch of vintage sewing patterns.

Then on Friday night I saw this lovely with my family . . .

up2

up1 I finally got photos of this layout.

P7185453

P7185454

I don’t want to say ever, but this is quite possibly my favourite layout like . . .ever. It is one of those layouts that I was thinking about for quite a long time – planning in my head etc. In the past, those layouts have been the ones that I am least pleased with. Wrong. This time the layout turned out better than I ever could’ve imagined. I made it completely out of old American Eagle shopping bags, clothes, tags, receipts etc (except for the letters obvi). Anyways I love it.

Also, on a side note: I don’t know how I ever scrapped without my sewing machine.

I worked Saturday and Sunday.

I love that Twitter has these cutey little images when its down. looove.

twitterwhale I locked my keys in the car at work. fml. Luckily my dad came and rescued me with a coat hanger.

Ok. I have to pack because I am heading to the cottage for two days. I will be back maybe Tuesday night or Wednesday.

i looove yooou.
