Anticipation

Here are some albums who have been slated to release in 2010 that I am super excited for.image image If their album cover isn’t cool enough, the songs on Merriweather Post Pavillion are really good as well. The boys from Animal Collective are up to it again, and their new album Campfire Songs is set to be released on Jan 26.

image image You probably recognize these two from their collaboration with Jenny Lewis on Rabbit Fur Coat, but they are now releasing a solo album. The Watson Twins have Talking to You, Talking to Me set to release on February 9.  I loved them on Rabbit Fur Coat so I am kind of excited to see what they do on their solo album.image image We all know the high amount of love that I have for Zooey well the love I have for her music is equal to that. Volume One is fantastic and Volume Two is to be released on March 23.

image image The follow up to Oracular Spectacular by MGMT called Congratulations does not have a set date for release but they have announced that it will be released sometime in 2010. I love MGMT. I don’t talk about them on here a lot but I really love their music. Its really good to get me pumped up. Also, Time to Pretend is currently my ringtone. I loove it.

image I can hardly contain myself. There is no album name, no release date, but I do know that there will be a new Arcade Fire released sometime this year. This is the album I have been waiting for. Funeral is definitely in my top 3 albums of all time, Neon Bible is fantastic and I am expecting no less from this album.

Some other albums that I am looking forward to this year are:

Broken Bells – a collaboration between James Mercer (of the Shins) and Danger Mouse. I looove The Shins so I’m super excited about this. There is one song on their MySpace page (the link above) that I quite like so I’m pretty stoked to see what the rest of the album is like. Broken Bells to be released on March 9.

Fleet Foxes – There is no date set, or title released but it is rumoured that there will be a new album released in 2010. Fleet Foxes were one of my fave artists in 2009 so obviously I’m excited to hear the new album.

The New Pornographers – Interesting name, but their music is pretty good. I’d be interested to see what the new album is like. No title or release date announced.

The Cold War Kids – I loooove their sound and they have a new album released yesterday (as I am writing this it is not yet released just fyi. so I am still anticipating it lol.) Behave Yourself released Tuesday January 19.

Jonsi Birgisson – Probably best known for being a part of the Icelandic band Sigur Ros (looooove) is releasing a solo album called Go on March 23. I checked out his MySpace page and the snippets there sound amazing.

Obsessed? Not at all.

It seems I have been blogging regularly lately about my crushes that I have on certain ladies. I have blogged about these two before and you can be sure I’ll blog about them again. 15 plus years of a relationship such as ours does not go away – its for life. lol.4jb86ssisses mk96 2afmm0x 2pz06ds ashley-olsen-harpers-bazaar-02all via Olsens Anonymous

Gorgeous right?  Here is the layout I mentioned yesterday. One of the three that I did this weekend – my personal fave from the weekend.000_0755 This is scraplifted from a  fantastic layout by Mandi and the journaling reads:

“I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to the Olsen Twins. I grew up watching them on Full House and in numerous movies and to this day, years after I first fell in love with them watching It Takes Two, I am still fascinated. These days I check the Olsens Anonymous blog daily, buy any magazine they are in, post their pics on my inspiration board, and save pictures from online galleries. They are successful, beautiful, super stylish and I would love to hang out with these icons for a day or two. I don’t like to use the word obsessed when describing how I feel about them, but I can understand where there might be some confusion.”

So if you are reading this and can hook me up with these girls I would be eternally grateful. lol. Or if one of you, MK or A, happen to be reading this and wanna email me that would be sweet, whatev.

Also, this is my 100th post. So YAY for that!!! This past year my blog has really taken off and I don’t do it enough, but thank you so much for everyone that reads these quite often random thoughts that I put out there into the interweb and for coming back after I haven’t blogged for a week and for leaving comments. Every comment is read and very much appreciated. So thank you very much for that.

An Homage

In light of my heavy post yesterday here is something pretty for you all.

When I first started blogging just about a year and a half ago, one of my main sources of inspiration was Flickr. Lately I have been using sites like We Heart It which are somewhat easier to navigate and find images that specifically relate to what you are looking for.

In an homage to those days when Flickr was my main inspiration source, here is a little mosaic of 16 images, one from each page of my faves on flickr (all with the original artists credited – which is one teeny problem I have with sites like We Heart It but thats another story).

Monday Monday.

hi. hi.

You are probably reading this and I am either doing one of two things: sleeping or in class. ha.  Either way, welcome to day one of my goal to blog everyday this week. (Which I will accomplish since posts for all 5 days this week are already written. Thank God for post-publishing)

I’m going to be sharing a bunch of different things with you all throughout the week but today is going to be quick and dirty. I just have a few things I want to share with you to start your week off.

First of all this weekend the lovely lovely Miss James from Bleubird (one of the prettiest blogs ever!! seriously) posted the second instalment of her Show and Tell feature. image

image

If you don’t know what it is (though, it’s pretty much how it sounds) you can check out that post right here. I was lucky enough to participate this round. 163944 164010 I shared one of my vintage Hardy Boys collection. I collect these and the Nancy Drew’s from the 50s and 60s and if I’m really lucky I can find them from the 30s when they first came out. Elise shared a Nancy Drew book that is in her collection. I thought it was cute/funny that we shared the same thing so I went over to check her blog and was pleasantly surprised at how lovely it was. So quick shout out to Elise my collection twin. You should go and check her out.

Also, I got a lot of traffic from Bleubird this weekend so if you’re visiting from there, welcome and I hope you come back and play again sometime.

This weekend I got a lot of scrapbooking done. Three layouts might not sound like a lot for the whole weekend, but considering I am a really slow scrapper ( I often have layouts sit on my desk for at least a week before I finish them) three is a monumental number. 000_0741000_0727  And a sneak peek of one that I finished tonight after the daylight  had disappeared and as a result did not get a good photograph of.000_0744(sneaky right?) I’ll post updated pics of this layout later on this week so stay tuned for those.

I decided this weekend that I need to do multiple layouts in a row more often because (in my opinion) they kept getting better as the weekend went on (note: layouts appear in the order they were created). I miss scrapbooking a lot when I don’t get a chance to do it. Its absolutely one of my favourite creative things to do and I have met so many great people because of it. Its really very close to my heart.

I really need to get my hands on a reliable camera. Its hard to scrapbook when you don’t have photos to scrapbook. ha! imagine that. My last camera I had died without so much as any hint of warning, never to work again and the one I had before that turns on with a dial (Kodak. anyone? anyone?) Anyways over the years that dial has gotten sticky and sometimes turns and sometimes doesn’t. It is hard, as one might imagine, to turn on the camera when the dial doesn’t work. So it is unreliable, and also it is huuuge (we’re talking like 6 years old people) so I don’t generally use it for anything except to photograph layouts and stuff. Aaaanyways, that’s just my little rant. I’m keeping my eyes out for a very reasonably priced Rebel so if anyone has any links I’d love to see them.

Finally on a kind of serious note I just wanted to make a quick comment on what is going on in Haiti currently.  Most of you are probably unaware of this, except for the few family members that read this blog, that Haiti is pretty close to my heart. My mom works for an organization called MFMI and their partner OMS and she works to co-ordinate short term mission trips all over the world but probably 90% of the teams that she organizes go into Haiti. My parents have went to Haiti on a missions trip a few years ago and they have seen firsthand (and I have seen second-hand through pictures they took and stories they brought back) what a beautiful country and how beautiful the people are there.  My parents have made friends with the missionaries in Haiti and luckily no one on the team from MFMI/OMS was harmed in the quake.

The organization has two buildings in Port-au-Prince where the earthquake hit. The villa, where short term teams stay when they go (luckily there were none from OMS in the country this week) and a church. The villa is relatively fine with only a small amount of damage but from what we currently know there is nothing left of the church.

As I mentioned this is very close to home for my family so I am urging all of you reading to do whatever you can within the means that you have. You can donate to OMS by following this link here. Your donation to OMS will go towards providing food and water to the people who have been affected by the earthquake. There is a huge list here of other organizations that you can donate to if that is more convenient for you. My friend Elsie is auctioning off this painting with 100% of the proceeds going towards Haiti relief.image A lot of the time I take for granted the situation I find myself in from day to day – this puts a lot of things into perspective for me. I am honoured to be able to help out in a situation like this. I hope you are able to help out as well.

a quick hi.

000_0733edit

Just popping in to say a quick little hello.

I am dressed in my favourite jeans circa 2004 (i have a hard time getting rid of clothes), my current fave flannel shirt, my roomate is gone for the weekend and its just me and the pup. There are magazines and books and paper supplies galore, an endless supply of movies to last me long into the late night scrapping session that will be tonight. Also on the agenda for the weekend: blogging for next week (I’m planning on blogging every day), watching the season premiere of Project Runway plus more.

But my pugly little friend is whining at his leash so I have to dash outside with him.

So, hello friends!

What are you up to this weekend??

ps i love you.

finally

image

Finally, after months of saying that I wanted to see it, I have finally seen (500) Days of Summer.  I even own it now, so I can watch it whenever I want. ha. It was good. It was all I expected it to be and it was so pretty. I love the way it was shot, and the whole concept behind it.  And it has Zooey so, obviously i’m all over that. ha. Every time I see her in something I become more convinced that she’s the love of my life. Seriously she is super cute aaand she can sing to me any day of the week.  I realize I have done this exact same thing before (sing my praises for Zooey and then post a number of pictures of her, but hey, its my blog I’ll do what I want. ha)

image image image image image image Sigh.  (all found via WeHeartIt)

I’m going to spend some time over the next couple of weeks fixing this place up. New year, new things in store for the blog. I’m definitely going to have a new banner, and I’m going to see about getting nice little tabs on the side etc etc. You know, spruce it up a little in here. ha.

What are you up to? Also, how was your Christmas?

Ps. I love you
