i scrapped.

so, amidst all of the studying and paper writing that comes with midterm season, i have found some time to scrap. i pretty much need to do something artsy or creative everyday because it keeps me sane.

anyways, i made these layouts with the February kit from Studio Calico which i reviewed at the everyday scrapper. you can see that review here.

Just a bit of eye candy from my recent Flickr faves. Hopefully they are inspiring to you as they are to me. Just by the way, I could proclaim my love for Flickr from the rooftops, definitely my best discovery in the last couple of years.

I will be spending my next couple of days paper writing and studying. Midterms are coming - yay! (and by yay! i really mean boo!). I have a feeling I may be spending a lot of time with these lovelies.

Ok kiddos, I am out, back to the paper writing and midterm studying.

after many long hours of editing . . .

First of all, if you are here or have been here from Rachel and Elsie's class, welcome. Feel free to come back anytime. I don't know about you, but I really love the classroom environment so so inspiring.

I have finally finished going through the pictures that I scanned at my grandmas and I am going to share some of my faves. yay!
First let me say, I pretty much loved all of the ones that I scanned (why else would I have scanned them in the first place?) and these are a few of my favorites and I had a really tough time trying to decide which ones to share . . . anyways these are the ones I decided on for tonight and I will probably share more again in the future. Also some of these I have no reason for choosing them except for the fact that they resonated with me in some way or another - they kind of just made my heart sing.

My momma.

My Dad's shorts. My Mom's shirt. Enough said.

My parents again. I feel like I need to give them a chance to redeem themselves for the last picture and this one does just that I think (ps. I really like this one)

Staying with the couple theme, these are my grandparents circa 1954 - 1 year before they got married. Too cute. They're still that cute, and poppa still frequently takes goofy pictures like this.

Poppa and my mom (left) and aunt (right). Do I have a cool grandpa or what? Get a load of those sweet Ray Bans.

What can I say? I have cool grandparents. Look at those cat eye glasses on grandma. *lovely*

This may well be my favorite picture of the day. Its a couple of my mom's aunts. I don't know why I love it so much, I just know I *love* it.

For the curious - when editing these pics I really didn't do much to them, I just lightened them up, sharpened some of them and punched up the colour in most of them.

Ok, tonight I am scrapping and journalling. What are you up to?

*so thankful*

So I'm not quite finished going through all of the pictures that I scanned the other day, so I'm not gonna share my favorites just yet.

I do however want to say a *huge huge* thank you to this woman.
For as long as I can remember my grandma has been toting around her camera wherever she goes taking pictures all along the way. For that I am extremely thankful. I'm so glad to have all those pictures to look through (I must have looked through thousands of pictures the other day and I ended up scanning over 300). I'm so glad to have all those pieces of history to look at.

As a scrapbooker and a photographer I try to capture little pieces of now, that in the future will be pieces of history, whether they be about me, my friends or my family. In her own way she has been doing that all this time. With her camera, her newspaper clippings and those many photo albums in her cupboards, this woman was a scrapbooker in her own way long before I was.

For that, I want to thank her.

Love you Gram.

Hi.

Just a quick hi. I'm heading out to wal-mart for a little bit, but I just wanted to tell you about my day yesterday.

Yesterday I spent the day at my Grandma's going through all of her old photo albums and scanning them onto my computer. She has a ton of old photo albums filled with pictures. I was there literally all day going through THOUSANDS of pictures dating all the way back to when she was a kid in the 1930s and -40s. After some inital scanner difficulties, I ended up scanning hundreds of photos (I will let you know the exact amount later).

Just as a side note: I love love love spending time with my grandparents, they are absolutely hilarious and just really great people. The two of them together are priceless. I wrote down a few things they said yesterday that will be going into my journal.

Anyways, needless to say, tonight I will be cropping and editing a very large amount of old photos. Tomorrow I will post some of my faves. (So much for my homework that I was going to do this week)

What are you up to today?

xoxo Jer
